Productivity Tips for Business People to propel you to success!
All new businesses face challenges. This may be due to a lack of knowledge in particular areas. With small businesses, there is often also a lack of funds to hire staff or to outsource these areas to the experts. My Productivity Tips for Business People will help you learn, grow and thrive in business.
Have clear goals in place
Have clear goals in place and an action plan of how to achieve them. This should be a living document which is regularly reviewed and updated. I have found that I achieved the most when I kept my goals in mind and worked on them on a daily basis. This will form the basis of your business plan.
What support is out there?
Consider the areas that you really need to concentrate on. As a new business, I found that the hardest thing for me was marketing, as this is an area I had little experience in. Once you have identified the area/s you need to concentrate on, consider what support you can access. There are plenty of low (or even no) cost services out there which can support you such as business incubation units.
Ask for help
Don’t be afraid to ask for help! Often other business owners will be pleased to help. They may even be prepared to work in collaboration with you to achieve common goals, or perhaps you can trade services for mutual benefit? This is something that I have done.
It takes time
Don’t underestimate how long and how hard you may have to work to run a successful business. Success very rarely happens overnight! Stay positive! Most successful business people have failed many times before they found success. In order to survive, you need to put the effort in.
Find your passion and your ‘Why’
- Be passionate about what you are doing. If you are not passionate about the services or goods that you are marketing, potential clients/customers will not be either!
- Understand your ‘Why’ – why you are in business – this should be linked to your passion ideally. Once you understand that, you can feel truly inspired and build your business around this.
Identify your niche market
- Identify your niche market and understand where to meet them, either face-to-face or virtually (or both). Once you have done this, hang out in the right places!
Celebrate your successes and have fun
- Don’t forget to reward yourself for your small successes! In the UK, in particular, we have a tendency to dwell on our failures and forget our successes! Learn from your successes, as well as your failures. For example, if you were successful in something because you took a new approach, can you adopt that approach in other areas?
- Finally, have fun. There is no use being in business if you don’t enjoy it! After all, no-one is making you be in business!
